Drawing
The V&A holds over 14,000 European drawings and sketchbooks dating from the 15th century to the present day. The collection covers a broad range of materials and techniques used by artists. It showcases the various functions of drawing, from preparatory studies for paintings to designs for textiles and fashion.
The collection is particularly strong in drawings by British, Italian, French, Dutch and Flemish artists. Highlights include works by world-renowned artists such as Tintoretto, Anthony van Dyck, Angelica Kauffman, John Constable, Degas, and Barbara Hepworth.
